Getting to Japanese Covered Bridge (Chua Cau), Hoi An, Vietnam
Japanese Covered Bridge, also known as Chua Cau, is a beautiful historical piece of Japanese architecture that spans a small waterway in the heart of Hoi An's Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The bridge is a popular destination for tourists and a symbol of the significant impact the Japanese community had in Hoi An.
Arriving in Hoi An
To reach the Japanese Covered Bridge from outside of Hoi An, you'll first need to arrive in the city:
- By Air: The nearest airport is Da Nang International Airport (DAD). From the airport, you can take a taxi or a shuttle bus for the roughly 45-minute drive to Hoi An.
- By Train: The nearest train station is also in Da Nang. Trains run frequently along the North-South Railway from cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. From Da Nang railway station, it's a 45-minute drive to Hoi An.
- By Bus: There are bus services from major cities like Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, and Hue to Hoi An.
Local Transport to the Japanese Covered Bridge
Once you're in Hoi An, reaching the Japanese Covered Bridge is convenient:
- On Foot: Hoi An's Old Town is pedestrian-friendly and easily navigable on foot. From most places in the Old Town, Chua Cau is a short walk away.
- By Bicycle: Many hotels and hostels offer bicycle rentals. Riding a bike is a delightful and common way to explore Hoi An and reach the bridge.
- By Taxi/Motorbike Taxi: Taxis and motorbike taxis are readily available if you prefer not to walk or bike.
Keep in mind that Hoi An's Old Town area is often closed to motor vehicles during certain hours to preserve the calm and charm of the area, which might affect taxi access.
