The Japanese Peace Pagoda in Galle is a serene shrine offering panoramic views of the city and the coastline. This tranquil monument, one of the many peace pagodas in the world established by the Japanese Buddhist order Nipponzan Myohoji, stands as a symbol of peace and a reminder of the importance of fostering harmony among all human beings. Built in 2005 on Rumassala Hill, it is situated near the Jungle Beach and provides a scenic overlook of the Galle Bay. Its brilliant white structure stands out against the lush greenery and the blue skies. Inside, the pagoda houses four Buddha statues that represent important events in the life of Buddha, facing four different directions. The surrounding area is perfect for quiet contemplation or meditation. The pagoda is accessible via a steep pathway that winds through the hill, and the journey is as rewarding as the destination itself, offering glimpses of the diverse flora and fauna of the region.

Interesting. Worth a trip if you are local and got time
Tuktuk to the top from our hotel. Nice view from the top over to Galle. Walked down to jungle beach . Small cove with a bar but very busy. Walked back up to the pergoda and then took the jungle oa..
Visit in the evening, and buy a flower for offering from the family just outside. Terrific place. But heads up: ride here yourself or you’ll be stuck paying whatever he two or three tuk-tuk dudes outs..
When you look across from Galle this rises above the mountain, seemingly supported by trees.
When you get here the scale is breathtaking.
It's very serene and peaceful to walk around and the views ..
