Kamru Fort Sangla Tourism

Kamru Fort is a historic fort located in the picturesque town of Sangla, in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It stands at an altitude of 2600 meters above sea level, offering stunning views of the Sangla Valley and the Baspa River. This ancient fort is said to be over 800 years old and is a fine example of Himalayan architecture with its intricate woodwork and splendid tower-like structure. The Fort is built on a steep hill and is entered through a series of gates, leading up to an image of Lord Buddha at the main gate which signifies its historical connection with the Kinnaur's erstwhile Bushahr Kingdom. The Kamru Fort also houses a 15th-century temple dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Kamakhya Devi which was brought from Assam. Surrounded by apple orchards and dense forests, the fort's serene environment and its archeological significance make it a popular destination for history buffs and nature enthusiasts alike.
