Best Time To Visit Kapilash Temple (Dhenkanal) In 2026 - 2027

Kapilash Temple, located on top of Mount Kapilash at an elevation of about 1352 feet above sea level, is one of the ancient temples in the state of Odisha, India, dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a revered pilgrimage site with an enchanting surrounding that offers a mix of divine ambiance and natural beauty. The best time to visit this esteemed temple largely depends on the weather conditions and the religious events that take place there.

The ideal time to travel to Kapilash Temple is during the winter season, which extends from October to March. During these months, the weather is pleasant and cool, making it suitable for climbing the 1352 steps to reach the temple or for visitors choosing the motorable pathway. Additionally, the famous Mahashivaratri festival, usually occurring in February or March, is a significant event attracting thousands of devotees to the temple. This period is an excellent opportunity to witness the temple's rich traditions and vibrant festivities. However, it's essential to be prepared for the crowd during the festival. For those preferring a peaceful visit, the period just after Monsoon and before the onset of winter, or the early weeks of winter, may offer a more serene experience.
