Welcome to Khasab, Oman
How to Reach Khasab
Khasab, the local capital of the Musandam peninsula in Oman, is a stunningly scenic destination. Whether you're an adventure-lover or in need of a peaceful retreat, here are the ways you can reach this beautiful enclave:
By Air
Khasab Airport (KHS) serves as the main gateway by air. Oman Air operates flights to and from Muscat, providing a quick and scenic route to the region. Booking in advance is highly advisable during peak tourist seasons.
By Road
There is a thrilling overland route from the UAE. If you're driving from Dubai or other Emirates:
- Take the main highway E11 towards Ras Al Khaimah.
- From Ras Al Khaimah, use the Al Rams road which leads to the border with Oman at Al Darah.
- After completing border formalities, continue on the coastal road to Khasab.
Expect stunning mountain scenery and potentially wild goat sightings along your drive. Ensure you have the necessary car insurance that is valid in Oman, and be aware that crossing the border might incur an additional fee.
By Ferry
If you're coming from Muscat and prefer a scenic route, consider the ferry operated by the National Ferries Company. Their high-speed services offer a comfortable and picturesque journey to Khasab across the sea, complete with views of the rugged coastline and possible dolphin sightings.
By Bus
Though there are no direct bus services to Khasab, you can take a bus operated by the Oman National Transport Company to the border from cities like Muscat or Dubai and then find a taxi or a local bus to take you into Khasab.
Upon arrival, you'll be greeted with breathtaking views, the iconic fjords of the Arabian Peninsula, and a chance to immerse yourself in the local culture. Enjoy your trip to Khasab!
