How to Reach Kitanocho
Kitanocho, a picturesque area in Kobe known for its charming Western-style houses or "Ijinkan," is a popular destination for visitors from around the globe. Here's how you can reach Kitanocho:
By Air:
The nearest international airport is Kansai International Airport (KIX). From there, you can:
- Take a bus direct to Kobe, which takes about 70 minutes.
- Board a train to Shin-Kobe Station using the JR Airport Rapid Service and then switch to a local subway or taxi.
By Train:
If you're already in Japan, you can easily reach Kobe by train:
- Shinkansen (Bullet Train): If traveling from Tokyo, Nagoya, Hiroshima, or other major cities, take the Shinkansen to Shin-Kobe Station.
- From Shin-Kobe Station, you can take the Kobe City Subway to Sannomiya Station and walk or take a short taxi ride to Kitanocho.
By Road:
Driving or taking a bus to Kobe:
- Major highways like the Meishin Expressway and the Hanshin Expressway connect Kobe with other cities in Japan.
- Long-distance coaches may offer another alternative, terminating at the Kobe Sannomiya bus terminal.
Local Transportation:
Once in Kobe's central area:
- Kitanocho is a short walk from Kobe's Sannomiya Stations. Sannomiya is the main transport hub and is serviced by Kobe Municipal Subway, Hankyu Railway, and Hanshin Railway.
- Alternatively, taxis are readily available and can take you directly to the area.
