By Air
Although Koh Kong does not have its own airport, visitors can fly into the Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH) or the Sihanoukville International Airport (KOS) followed by a land transfer to Koh Kong.
By Road
Traveling by road is the most common way to reach Koh Kong:
- From Phnom Penh: Take a bus or a taxi from Phnom Penh, which takes around 5 to 6 hours. Buses may cost around $10-20 while a private taxi could be around $100.
- From Sihanoukville: The road trip takes about 4 hours. Bus services are available, and this route offers scenic views of the Cambodian countryside.
By Boat
If you’re coming from Thailand:
- A ferry service operates from Trat, available only during the high season, which generally runs from November to May.
Border Crossing from Thailand
Crossing the Cham Yeam border near Hat Lek in Thailand is another option:
- Once you’ve gone through immigration, taxis and motorbike taxis are available for travel onwards to Koh Kong.
- Beware of scams at the border and be sure to have your visa sorted ahead of time, unless you’re eligible for visa-on-arrival or visa exemption.
