The Konark Sun Temple is an architectural marvel and a symbol of India's cultural heritage, situated in the coastal town of Konark, in Odisha. Built in the 13th century by King Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty, the temple is designed in the shape of a colossal chariot with seven horses and twenty-four wheels, representing the chariot of the Sun god, Surya. Intricately carved stone wheels, pillars, and walls depict scenes from daily life and Hindu mythology, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of the era. The temple complex was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, highlighting its significance and the need for preservation. Despite being partially in ruins, it continues to attract historians, architects, and tourists from all over the world who come to marvel at its grandeur and detailed artistry reflecting the ancient Kalinga architecture.
