The Lanna Folklife Museum is a cultural museum located in the heart of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Situated in the historic district, it is housed in a beautiful white colonial-style building, which was once the Provincial Court of Chiang Mai. The museum serves as a vital center for the preservation and presentation of the Lanna culture and heritage. 'Lanna' refers to the kingdom that was centered in Northern Thailand from the 13th to 18th centuries. The museum's exhibits showcase a range of Lanna artifacts, local handicrafts, textiles, religious relics, and traditional household items, giving visitors a deep insight into the rich history and way of life of the northern Thai people. It's an excellent place to learn about the local beliefs, arts, crafts, and customs. Interactive displays and informative placards offer descriptions in both Thai and English, making it accessible to international tourists. The museum's tranquil environment and well-curated exhibits provide a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle.
This museum is mostly devoted to Buddhism and textiles. I was hoping to learn more about Folklife! Unless you are really interested in those two, it might be underwhelming.
