Wat Phra Singh is located in the west of the old walled city of Chiang Mai, Thailand. It is a Buddhist temple and one of the most revered in the city, dating back to the 14th century. The temple serves as a prime example of Northern Thai architecture. Its significance stems from the housed Phra Buddha Sihing statue, which attracts both worshipers and visitors alike. The temple complex comprises several stupas, chapels, and intricate buildings adorned with Lanna art that portrays the skill of the craftsmen and their dedication to Buddhist teachings. The temple's assembly hall, or viharn, features a striking façade with elaborate wood carvings and gold inlays. Murals and manuscripts within the temple depict Lanna customs, beliefs, and way of life. Wat Phra Singh's grounds are calm and serene, offering a tranquil haven from the bustling streets of Chiang Mai. Visitors can also observe and interact with monks, providing a glimpse into the daily life of the local clergy.
Visited this place during April 24, it is a must visit place in Chiang Mai. Architecture of the temple makes it unique. Mindset of people or monks in and around are very nice.
