Best Time to Visit Leakey's Bookshop in Inverness, United Kingdom

Leakey's Bookshop is renowned as one of the most charming and extensive second-hand bookshops in Scotland, housed in a beautiful old church building with a comforting wood stove at its heart. While this bibliophile’s haven can be enjoyed year-round, the best time to visit would typically be during the spring and summer months, from April to August. These months offer longer days with more sunlight, which enhances the experience of browsing through the unique collection of books. The weather in Inverness during this period is generally milder, with temperatures averaging between 8°C and 17°C (46°F and 63°F), and although there can be occasional rain, the chances of uninterrupted exploration are higher.

For those seeking a quieter visit, May and June are ideal as they precede the peak tourist season that begins in July and continues through August. During the earlier months of spring, visitors can enjoy a more serene atmosphere, and service within the shop may be more personal. Moreover, these months coincide with the blooming of Scottish flora, providing a splendid backdrop to your book hunting adventure. It is advisable to check the opening times before your visit, as they can change seasonally, but typically, the store operates from Monday to Saturday, giving you ample opportunity within a week to explore its literary treasures.
