Travel Options to Jeita Grotto

By Car or Taxi

Renting a car or taking a taxi are the most flexible and convenient options to reach the Jeita Grotto. It is located about 18 kilometers (11 miles) north of Beirut. When driving, take the highway towards Jounieh, and then follow the signs leading to Jeita Grotto.

By Public Transportation

Public transportation in Lebanon can be a bit challenging for tourists. However, there are buses running from Beirut towards Jounieh that can drop you off near the Jeita Grotto turnoff, from where you need to walk or take a taxi.

Guided Tours

Many travel agencies in Beirut offer half-day tours to Jeita Grotto, which often include transportation and a guide.

Opening Hours and Tickets

It's important to check the opening hours before planning your trip, as the Grotto may be closed during certain times of the year, especially in winter. Typically, the Grotto is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; however, always confirm before visiting. You'll also need to purchase a ticket for entry.

Visiting the Lower Grotto

Upon arrival at the Jeita Grotto complex, you will take a cable car or a train to the entrance of the Upper Grotto first. The Lower Grotto, accessible only by boat, is visited after exploring the upper section. Note that photography is not allowed inside the Grotto, and you'll be asked to store your electronic devices before entering.
