Best Time to Visit Malegaon Yatra, Nanded

Malegaon Yatra, which is one of the significant religious fairs in the region of Nanded, Maharashtra, sees a vast influx of devotees and tourists. The Yatra, held in honor of Lord Khandoba, a manifestation of Lord Shiva, is a vibrant event filled with rituals and festivities. The optimal time for visiting the Malegaon Yatra is during the annual fair that typically takes place in the month of Margashirsha according to the Hindu calendar, usually corresponding to November or December in the Gregorian calendar. During this period, the weather in Nanded is soothing with the winter season setting in, which offers pleasant and cool temperatures conducive for outdoor activities and long hours at the fair.

The Yatra not only has a religious significance but also is a cultural spectacle. Planning your visit during this time will also allow you to experience Maharashtra's local culture, cuisine, and traditions in their full glory. However, it is advisable to check the specific dates for the festival as they may vary each year based on the lunar calendar. Apart from the Yatra, this time of the year offers an excellent opportunity to explore other attractions in and around Nanded without the inconvenience of the monsoon rains or the extreme heat of the summer months. Pre-booking accommodations is recommended as the festival attracts a large number of pilgrims and could lead to scarcity of places to stay.
