Best Time To Visit Maobitou Park (Pingtung) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Maobitou Park, Pingtung, Taiwan

The ideal time to visit Maobitou Park, located at the southern tip of Taiwan, is during the dry season which typically extends from December through April. During these months, you're less likely to encounter the heavy rainfall that can characterize the region's wet season. With pleasant weather that sees average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F), visitors can take full advantage of the scenic coastal views and the comfortable environment for exploring. This period is perfect for taking leisurely walks along the trails, viewing the iconic cat-shaped rock formation that gives the park its name (Mao is cat in Mandarin), and watching spectacular sunsets by the water.

Moreover, visiting during the Spring Festival, usually between January and February, can make for a culturally rich experience as the region celebrates Chinese New Year with numerous festivals and events. However, be mindful that this is also a peak travel season, so expect larger crowds and higher prices for accommodation. To experience a quieter visit and potentially better deals, consider planning your trip after the festival period. Early springtime, around March, is often cited as the sweet spot for enjoying good weather and smaller crowds, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and tranquility of Maobitou Park without the commotion of peak tourist times.
