Best Time To Visit Mazari-Sharif (Afghanistan) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Mazar-i-Sharif

Visiting Mazar-i-Sharif, a city famed for its stunning Blue Mosque and its position as a cultural hub in Afghanistan, is most favorable during the spring months, particularly March to June. During this time, the weather is mild to warm, making it an ideal climate for exploring the historical and cultural sites. The legendary Nauroz festival, which marks the Persian New Year, occurs in March and is a spectacular event rich with color and tradition that attracts visitors from all over the country and beyond. If you are looking to experience this vibrant festival, make sure to plan your visit around the 21st of March.

Conversely, the summer months, especially from July to September, bring warmer temperatures that might be less comfortable for some travelers. Whilst the heat intensifies, it could still be an acceptable time to visit for those who don't mind warmer weather. However, please note that travel to Mazar-i-Sharif or any part of Afghanistan requires careful consideration of the current political and security situation. It is essential to check with your country's travel advisories and local sources before making travel plans, to ensure safety throughout your visit.
