The Mount of Beatitudes is a hill in northern Israel, near the city of Tiberias, on the northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee. It is the traditional site of Jesus' delivery of the Sermon on the Mount, one of the main teachings of Jesus on morality and discipleship, and is one of the most beautifully tranquil places in the Holy Land. Visitors today find a stunning octagonal church designed by the famous Italian architect, Antonio Barluzzi, which is open to pilgrims and contains stunning mosaics and modern stained-glass windows. The Mount is surrounded by well-maintained gardens and offers an astounding view of the Sea of Galilee including its serene shores and surrounding areas. The church and surrounding areas are maintained by the Franciscan order. This site is an important point of pilgrimage for Christians from around the world and is frequented throughout the year for its religious and historical significance, as well as its natural beauty. Aside from its religious significance, the site also offers an opportunity for contemplation and reflection overlooking the peaceful landscapes of Galilee.
