How to Reach the Mount of Beatitudes, Tiberias, Israel

Overview

The Mount of Beatitudes is a hill in northern Israel where Jesus is believed to have delivered the Sermon on the Mount. It is near Tiberias on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee.

By Air

The nearest international airport to the Mount of Beatitudes is Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) in Tel Aviv. From there, visitors can rent a car or take a domestic flight to a closer airport, such as Haifa Airport (HFA).

By Road

From Tel Aviv or Jerusalem:

• Take Route 1 or Route 6 north to Route 65 east towards the Sea of Galilee
• From Route 65, switch to Route 77, which leads to Tiberias
• Upon reaching Tiberias, follow signs to the Sea of Galilee and continue around the lake to the Mount of Beatitudes

From Haifa:

• Take Route 75 east to Route 77 and then follow directions to Tiberias and subsequently to the Mount of Beatitudes.

By Public Transportation

Bus services from major cities like Jerusalem and Tel Aviv to Tiberias are frequent. Egged is the primary bus service provider. Once in Tiberias, local taxis or small regional buses can be used to reach the Mount of Beatitudes.

By Tour

Many travel agencies offer day trips or guided tours to the Mount of Beatitudes from major Israeli cities. This is a stress-free way to visit, as transportation and sometimes a guided tour of the site are included.

By Boat

For a unique experience, you can take a boat from Tiberias to Ein Gev and travel by road from there to the Mount of Beatitudes.
