Best Time To Visit Mount Of Olives (Jerusalem) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Mount of Olives, Jerusalem, Israel

The Mount of Olives in Jerusalem is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit is either during spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November). During these months, the weather is mild and pleasant, making outdoor activities and sightseeing comfortable. Springtime is especially beautiful as the mount and the city are filled with blooming flowers and the climate is ideal for walking tours. Besides the favorable weather, these periods also correspond to significant Christian and Jewish festivals, which can offer a unique cultural experience but also result in more crowds.

Despite the higher visitor numbers during these peak seasons, planning your trip in early spring or late autumn can help you avoid the largest crowds. Moreover, during these seasons, the daylight hours are relatively long, providing ample time to explore the many historical and religious sites found on the Mount of Olives, such as the Chapel of the Ascension, the Church of All Nations, and the ancient Jewish cemetery. Summers can be extremely hot and winters chilly and wet, which might hinder extended outdoor explorations, hence why the moderate temperatures in spring and fall are more conducive for a comfortable visit.
