Getting to Mount Rinjani

Mount Rinjani is one of the most majestic volcanoes in Indonesia, located on the island of Lombok. To reach this spectacular destination, follow these steps:

Step 1: Reach Lombok Island

• By Air: Fly into Lombok International Airport (Bandara Internasional Lombok) which is well connected with flights from Jakarta, Bali, and other major cities in Indonesia.
• By Sea: Take a ferry from Bali to Lombok if you prefer traveling by sea. You will arrive at Lembar Harbour if coming from Padang Bai, Bali.

Step 2: Travel to Mount Rinjani Area

Once you are on Lombok Island, you can choose among several gateways to start your Mount Rinjani adventure.

• By Road: Rent a car or take a bus/taxi to one of the Rinjani gateways, such as Senaru or Sembalun, which are the main access points for treks.
• Guided Tours: It's highly recommended to book a guided tour that includes transport from Mataram or other major towns on Lombok to your trekking starting point.

Step 3: Prepare for the Trek

Mount Rinjani is a high-altitude trek that requires good physical fitness and proper preparation. Make sure to:

• Check the trekking season; the best months are from April to December.
• Acquire necessary permits and pay the entrance fee.
• Bring appropriate gear, including hiking boots, warm clothing, raincoat, and camping equipment if staying overnight.
• Use the services of a local guide to ensure safety and to get the most of your Rinjani experience.
