By Foot

Florence is a compact city, best explored on foot. From the city’s main cathedral, the Duomo, Museo Galileo is just a 10-minute walk away. Simply head south towards the River Arno and you will find the museum adjacent to the riverbank.

By Public Transport

Public transportation in Florence is well-developed, with multiple options available:

  • Bus: Take ATAF buses that pass close to the museum such as lines C1 and C2. Alight at the ‘Condotta’ stop which is a short walk away from the museum.
  • Tram: The closest tram stop is the ‘Alamanni-Stazione Santa Maria Novella.’ From there, you can either walk for approximately 20 minutes or take a bus towards Piazza dei Giudici.

By Train

The main railway station, Stazione di Santa Maria Novella, is about a 15-minute walk from Museo Galileo. Head southeast towards the river and follow the signs. You can also take a taxi or a bus from the station.

By Car

Driving in Florence can be quite challenging due to limited traffic zones (ZTL). If you’re driving, it's best to park outside the city center and use public transport to reach the museum. Parking garages closest to Museo Galileo include:
