National Monument (Monas) Tourism

The National Monument, commonly known as Monas, is located in the heart of Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. This towering monument stands at 132 meters and is topped with a flame covered with gold foil, symbolizing the spirit of the Indonesian people fighting for independence. Monas was built to commemorate the struggle for Indonesian independence from Dutch colonial rule. It was opened to the public in 1975 and has since been an enduring symbol of the country's freedom and nationalism. The monument is situated in Merdeka Square, with lush green parks surrounding it, making it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. Visitors can ascend to the observation deck at the top of the monument for panoramic views of the bustling city. Inside the base of the monument is the National History Museum, which houses dioramas that portray the historical journey of Indonesia. Monas also serves as a venue for various national celebrations and community events throughout the year.
