Panchet Dam, constructed across the Damodar River, is situated in the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, India. Inaugurated in 1959 as part of the Damodar Valley Corporation, it is involved in hydroelectric power generation and is a significant source of water for industrial and domestic usage. The dam is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, including the Panchet Hill, after which the dam was named, and is flanked by lush greenery, making it an idyllic spot for tourists seeking tranquility away from the bustle of city life. Panchet Dam also attracts a variety of migratory birds, which adds to the appeal for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. It serves as an important element in the region's flood control system. Nearby, there are remnants of Panchkot Palace which reflect the rich historical significance of the area. The tranquil environment coupled with the scenic beauty of the region makes Panchet Dam an excellent location for picnics and short trips.
