Parasnath Hill, located in the Giridih district of Jharkhand, India, is a major pilgrimage destination for the Jain community and is revered as a sacred site. It stands at an altitude of 1,350 meters (4,430 feet) and is the highest hill in the state. The hill is named after the 23rd Tirthankara, Lord Parasnath, to whom the site is dedicated. According to Jain beliefs, twenty of the twenty-four Tirthankaras attained salvation on this hill, hence, it is also known as Sammed Shikhar. The site features numerous Jain temples that are scattered over the hill's slopes and peaks. The most prominent temple is the Parasnath Temple, which marks the place where Lord Parasnath attained Moksha or liberation. The temples are beautifully carved and are architecturally significant; they are surrounded by lush greenery, creating a peaceful and meditative environment. The devotees undertake a challenging trek to reach these temples as a form of spiritual discipline. Along the route, one can find the Gaumukh Temple and the Jharndih Temple which are famous tourist spots as well.
