The Parasurameswara Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, India. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is considered one of the best-preserved examples of an early Odishan Hindu temple dated to the 7th century AD. This architectural marvel forms a part of the temple city of Bhubaneswar and showcases the intricate carvings and the stone sculpting prowess of the artisans of the time. The temple boasts a vimana, which is the sanctum housing the deity, and a jagamohana, which is a porch for the congregation. The temple's exterior is embellished with exquisite carvings of various deities, floral motifs, and scenes from ancient scriptures. As one of the earliest temples to exhibit the Kalinga style of architecture, the Parasurameswara Temple offers a unique insight into the evolution of temple design in eastern India. Though small in size compared to later temples, it holds great significance for the history and culture of Odisha.
