The Rajarani Temple, located in Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha, India, is an 11th-century Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Renowned for its architectural splendor, it stands out for its ornately carved figures and the absence of a presiding deity, a feature that gives it a unique place amongst the temples of Bhubaneswar. The name 'Rajarani' is derived from the local red and yellow sandstone used in its construction, which is locally called Rajarania. The temple is an embodiment of the Kalinga style of architecture and is adorned with elaborate carvings of women and couples, and intricate floral designs. This temple has a distinct elongated spire over the sanctum (deul) and a cluster of smaller spires over the jagamohana (audience hall), which makes its silhouette a unique addition to the Bhubaneswar skyline.
