Phare Ponleu Selpak Circus, located in Battambang, Cambodia, is not just a circus but an inspiring social enterprise. This unique place serves as a hub for nurturing creativity and providing arts education to disadvantaged youth. Founded in 1994 by former refugees, Phare Ponleu Selpak means 'The Brightness of the Arts' in Khmer. It has grown from a small NGO helping children affected by war to a vibrant arts school offering training in visual arts, music, theatre, and circus arts. At the Phare Circus, performers use their incredible talents to convey powerful stories about Cambodian history, society, and folklore, through a blend of traditional and modern theater, music, dance, acrobatics, juggling, and contortion. This dynamic and youthful entertainment is accompanied by a live band and showcases the resilience and creativity of the Khmer people. The circus also contributes to the local community, investing proceeds back into education and social support programs. Visitors are left in awe by the passion and energy of the young artists, making it an uplifting experience that transcends the usual tourist attractions and leaves a lasting impact.

We saw Rouge. An absolutely brilliant, moving and totally enthralling evening by some extremely energetic youngsters. If you can there this is a MUST SEE.
