Phnom Chhngok Cave Temple, situated near Kampot in Cambodia, is a stunning natural limestone cave that houses a 7th-century brick temple, one of the few pre-Angkorian ruins accessible to tourists. Enclosed within the Phnom Chhngok mountain, the cave is revered as a holy site dedicated to Shiva. Steeped in rich history, the structure showcases intricate carvings and a stalactite formation revered as a likeness of an elephant. Visitors are drawn to this sanctuary not only for its historical significance but also for the awe-inspiring natural beauty and serenity. Access to the cave requires a short trek through lush Cambodian countryside, offering a scenic experience as one ventures to the site. Upon entry, the cool, dark interior provides a stark contrast to the tropical climate outside. The cave has become a destination for those interested in history, spirituality, and natural wonders, providing a unique glimpse into the country's cultural heritage. Due to the natural terrain and the need for careful preservation, visitors are recommended to use a guide to navigate the site safely and gain deeper insight into its history and significance.

If you want to go through the cave, get a guide. It is impossible to go through this without a guide. If you only want to see the temple, you don’t need them.
