Phuktal Monastery Tourism

Phuktal Monastery, one of the most isolated monasteries in the Zanskar region of Ladakh, India, is a breathtaking cliffside structure. Founded in the early 12th century, the monastery is home to about 70 monks and holds significant spiritual importance. Built into the mouth of a cavern on the cliffside of a lateral gorge of the Lungnak River, Phuktal looks like a honeycomb from a distance. It has a distinctive architecture with balconies and windows protruding out of the cliff face, providing an impressive view of the valley below.
