Type of destination: Historical Landmark
Ideal visit duration: 2-3 hours
The Presidential Palace in Nanjing holds immense historical significance as it was the administrative center of many Chinese governments and regimes over centuries. Spanning an area of 90,000 square meters, it is a large complex that has witnessed China's complex history, including serving as the headquarters for the Taiping Rebellion, the Presidential Mansion for the Republic of China, and much more. It is divided into three sections: the central, western, and eastern parts, with several gardens and buildings, each with its unique architecture and style. The palace showcases traditional Chinese gardens and Western architectural styles, indicative of China's engagement with the outside world at various points in its history. Today, the site is transformed into the China Modern History Museum, offering visitors an immersive experience into China's political development with exhibits on the revolution, the republican era, and Sun Yat-sen's role in Chinese history. The compound includes several halls, gates, gardens, and offices, all meticulously restored and preserved.

Very boring
Unless you are into Chinese history this place is not worth a visit for a foreign tourist. Nice gardens though.
