Purple Mountain, also known as Zijin Shan, is a historically significant mountain range located in the eastern suburbs of Nanjing in Jiangsu province, China. It is renowned for its verdant hills, rich history, and cultural relics. With peaks rising to about 448.2 meters above sea level, Zijin Shan is a favorite destination for both tourists and locals. The mountain is home to many important tourist attractions, including the Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of the Republic of China, and the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, the tomb of the Hongwu Emperor, the founder of the Ming Dynasty. Additionally, the mountain area includes the Purple Mountain Observatory and a botanical garden. Numerous paths and cable cars provide access to the various sites dispersed across the mountain. Aside from its cultural and historical significance, Purple Mountain offers picturesque landscapes, blossoming flowers in the spring, and lush greenery, making it an ideal location for hiking and sightseeing.
