Rumtek Monastery, also known as the Dharma Chakra Centre, is one of the largest and most significant monasteries in Sikkim, belonging to the Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism. It is located near the capital Gangtok, on the opposite hillside of the Ranipool River.

Rumtek Monastery is renowned for its splendid architecture, sacred murals, statues, and a collection of rare Tibetan Buddhist scriptures and religious artwork. It's known for being a replica of the original Kagyu headquarters in Tibet and the focal point of the Karma Kagyu lineage after it was rebuilt in the 1960s.

Rumtek Monastery is located about 23 km from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Visitors can reach the monastery by taxi or bus from Gangtok. The journey usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour.
