Food History of Sforza Castle, Milan, Italy

Sforza Castle (Castello Sforzesco in Italian) in Milan is more often recognized for its historical and architectural significance than for its direct association with food. The castle's inhabitants, including nobles and courtiers, would have enjoyed lavish banquets with the finest Italian cuisine of that era.

During the Renaissance period, gastronomy in Milan was influenced by the confluence of different cultures. Rich and elaborate dishes were prepared using a variety of spices that came from the trade routes passing through Milan.
