Travel Directions to Shikahogh State Reserve

By Car:

• Rent a car or hire a taxi from Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, to Kapan. The drive takes approximately 5-6 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. The route will take you through the M-2 highway, which offers scenic views and passes through several interesting stops such as the town of Goris.
• From Kapan, head south towards the village of Shishkert. The distance from Kapan to Shikahogh State Reserve is around 25 kilometers and the drive should take about 40 minutes. The road may be challenging, especially after heavy rain, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended.

By Bus:

• Buses and minibusses (marshrutkas) run from Yerevan to Kapan. They depart from the Kilikia Bus Station and the journey takes approximately 7-8 hours. Keep in mind that public transport might not take you directly to the Reserve, and you might need to arrange transportation from Kapan.

Guided Tours:

• There are many tour companies that offer trips to Shikahogh State Reserve. This can be a convenient option as these tours often include transportation, guide services, and sometimes meals and accommodation.
