How To Reach Shinkyo Bridge

The Shinkyo Bridge, also known as the Sacred Bridge, is one of the iconic landmarks in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Here's how to reach it:

By Train

From Tokyo:

  • Take the Tobu Railway from Asakusa Station to Tobu-Nikko Station. The journey usually takes about two hours.
  • Alternatively, take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Utsunomiya Station and then switch to the JR Nikko Line to Nikko Station. The total travel time is also approximately two hours.

By Bus

From Tokyo:

  • Direct buses to Nikko are available from Tokyo's major stations such as Shinjuku and Asakusa.

From Nikko Station to Shinkyo Bridge

Once you arrive at either Tobu-Nikko Station or JR Nikko Station:

  • Shinkyo Bridge is approximately a 30-minute walk from the stations.
  • You can also take a local bus heading towards the Nikko shrines and temples and alight at the Shinkyo stop. The ride takes about 10 minutes.
  • A taxi ride from the stations to Shinkyo Bridge will also take about 10 minutes.

Pro Tip: If you plan to visit multiple attractions in Nikko, consider getting a pass that includes unlimited bus rides in the area, such as the Nikko Pass, to save on transportation costs.
