Best Time To Visit Silver Pagoda (Phnom Penh) In 2026 - 2027

Visit Timing for Silver Pagoda, Phnom Penh

The Silver Pagoda, also known as Wat Preah Keo Morokot, is an iconic temple located within the Royal Palace complex in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. If you're planning a trip to see this remarkable site, the best time to visit is during Cambodia's dry season, which runs from November to April. During these months, the weather is generally sunny and dry, making it more comfortable to explore the temple grounds and the intricacies of its architecture. Morning visits are particularly recommended, as the temperatures are cooler and you'll avoid the midday heat, which can be quite intense. Taking a morning tour allows you to enjoy the serene atmosphere of the temple before the crowds arrive.

Besides the weather, considering the cultural events is also crucial. One of the ideal times to witness local traditions and festivities is during Khmer New Year, which takes place in mid-April. The Silver Pagoda and the surrounding complex is often lively with ceremonies and authentic Cambodian events. However, please note that the pagoda may have different visiting hours during special events and holidays. For a more tranquil experience, avoid public holidays when the site tends to be more crowded with both tourists and locals. Regardless of the time you choose to go, witnessing the shimmering silver tiles from which the pagoda gets its name, and the rich collection of Buddha statues, including an emerald Buddha, is a memorable experience.
