The Houses of Parliament, also known as the Palace of Westminster, is an iconic landmark located in London, United Kingdom. Situated on the banks of the River Thames, this historic site is home to the two houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom: the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The building is a stunning example of Gothic Revival architecture, designed by Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin, and was completed in 1870. The site has been a center of political life in the UK for centuries. The Big Ben, the nickname for the Great Bell inside the Elizabeth Tower at the north end of the Palace, is one of the most famous symbols of London and the UK as a whole. Despite being called Big Ben, the name actually refers to the bell rather than the clock or the tower itself. This clock tower is renowned for its accuracy and the massive bell's chimes which have been a comforting constant audible across central London for over 150 years.
