The Shard, also referred to as the Shard of Glass, Shard London Bridge, and formerly London Bridge Tower, is a 95-story supertall skyscraper designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano. Inaugurated in July 2012, this iconic building stands approximately 309.6 meters tall, making it one of the tallest buildings in the United Kingdom and the tallest in the city of London. Its construction began in March 2009 and was completed in November 2012. The Shard's distinctive pyramidal shape has redefined the London skyline with its glass façade reflecting the city's diverse moods throughout the day. Located in the London Borough of Southwark, it is part of the Shard Quarter development which includes residences, offices, hotel rooms, and restaurants. The building's viewing gallery and open-air observation deck on the 72nd floor offer visitors spectacular 360-degree views of London. The Shard is situated just steps away from the London Bridge station, making it easily accessible by public transportation.
