By Train

Ueno Station is the closest major train station to the Tokyo National Museum. Once you arrive at Ueno Station, the museum is a short walk away. You can access Ueno Station via several JR (Japan Railways) lines including the Yamanote Line, Keihin-Tohoku Line, Joban Line, and the Ueno-Tokyo Line. Additionally, Ueno is accessible via the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and Hibiya Line, which also stop at Ueno Station.

By Subway

If you choose the Tokyo Metro, get off at Ueno Station on the Ginza Line or Hibiya Line. The station is also served by the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line at the nearby Ueno-hirokoji Station.

By Bus

Several Tokyo Metropolitan buses serve routes that stop at Ueno Station or near the park. Look for buses stopping at Ueno Eki/ Ueno Station or Ueno Koen Mae/ Ueno Park.

On Foot

The Tokyo National Museum is located inside Ueno Park. After arriving at Ueno Station or any nearby subway stations, it is a pleasant walk to the museum through the park.

Hours of Operation

The museum is open from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM (last admission at 4:30 PM) but hours can extend on Fridays, Saturdays, and other special occasions. Closed on Mondays except for national holidays.

Admission Fees

General admission to the Tokyo National Museum is 620 yen for adults. Discounts are available for students, seniors, and groups. Visitors under 18 and over 70 have free admission.
