Best Time To Visit Uffizi Gallery (Florence) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit the Uffizi Gallery

To make the most out of your visit to the Uffizi Gallery, it's imperative to consider both the time of the year and the time of day. The Gallery is most crowded during the peak tourist season, which runs from late spring to early autumn, with the highest footfall often recorded from June to September. This period brings sunny weather and longer daylight hours, but also leads to longer waiting times and a more congested experience. To avoid larger crowds while still enjoying pleasant weather, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons, which are April to early June and late September to October. Bear in mind that autumn in Florence is known for its agreeable temperatures and fewer tourists, making it an excellent time for a quieter visit to the Uffizi.

Regardless of the season, the time of day can play a significant role in your visit to this renowned art museum. The Uffizi Gallery opens at 8:15 AM, and arriving early can help you enter before the bulk of the tourist groups. Tuesdays can be busier since some visitors defer their museum trips from Monday, when many other museums are closed. Afternoons, particularly after 3 PM, tend to be less crowded, offering a more tranquil viewing experience. Additionally, enjoying the Uffizi later in the afternoon also allows you to witness the artwork under different lighting, as the setting sun casts a warm glow through the windows. For the best experience, booking tickets in advance is highly recommended, as it grants you a designated entry time and can save you from the long lines typical of on-site ticket purchases.
