Explore Udaipur Tourism
Udaipur is a city in the Indian state of Rajasthan, renowned for its history, culture, scenic locations, and Rajput-era palaces. It is known as the 'City of Lakes' due to its sophisticated lake system, which includes five major lakes: Fateh Sagar Lake, Lake Pichola, Swaroop Sagar Lake, Rangsagar and Doodh Talai Lake. Udaipur was founded in 1558 by Maharana Udai Singh II as the final capital of the former Mewar kingdom. Notable landmarks include the City Palace, which overlooks Lake Pichola, the Lake Palace, which covers an entire island in the same lake, and the Monsoon Palace, perched on top of a hill, providing a panoramic view of the city. Other attractions encompass Jagdish Temple, Saheliyon-ki-Bari, and the Fateh Sagar Pal. It is also famous for its local arts, vibrant bazaars and traditional crafts, including paintings, marble articles, silver arts, and terracotta. Udaipur has a rich cultural backdrop with vivacious festivals, such as the Mewar Festival and Gangaur Festival, which are celebrated with enthusiasm.
