Jagdish Temple is a large Hindu temple in the middle of Udaipur in Rajasthan, India. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Jagdish), this Indo-Aryan architectural marvel was built by Maharana Jagat Singh in 1651. As you approach the temple, you can see the stunning three-storied structure, its facade decorated with beautiful carvings of musicians, dancers, elephants, and horsemen. The spire of the temple dominates the skyline of Udaipur. The temple comprises several mandapas (prayer halls) and a porch. A brass image of Garuda, the mythical bird and carrier of Lord Vishnu, greets visitors at the entrance. The main shrine houses a striking four-armed image of Lord Vishnu, which is carved out of a single piece of black stone. The aura inside the temple is serene, with the air carrying chants and prayers that resonate with spirituality. Sculptures and wall carvings within the temple are intricate and bear a testimony to the craftsmanship of the artisans of the bygone era. Jagdish Temple is not just a place of worship but also a significant monument in Udaipur's history.

Old temple
Temple is old and under maintenance. Steep steps to climb, close to most of the hotels. Recommend to walk to take an auto.
