Best Time to Visit Anamalai Tiger Reserve

The Anamalai Tiger Reserve, previously known as the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary, is situated in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu, India. This stunning wildlife sanctuary is a haven for various species of flora and fauna. The best time to visit the Anamalai Tiger Reserve is between the months of November and April. During this period, the weather is generally pleasant with lesser rainfall, which makes it ideal for wildlife spotting and enjoying the beauty of the reserve. The monsoon season, which typically lasts from June to September, is less recommended due to heavy rains that may cause inconvenience in terms of accessibility and wildlife viewing.

Visitors who are interested in bird watching should consider coming in the winter months, specifically from December to January, when migratory birds are often sighted. This time is also advantageous for those who want to avoid the heat of the summer months. It is important to note that some zones of the reserve may remain closed during certain times of the year for maintenance or to give rest to the wildlife, so it is recommended to check ahead with the reserve authorities for any such notifications. Moreover, since the reserve is a protected area, be prepared for certain restrictions and the necessity to adhere to the guidelines provided for a safe and responsible wildlife experience.
