Marudamalai Temple is a popular hill temple dedicated to Lord Murugan, located on a hill in the western part of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. At an elevation of about 600 feet, the temple is surrounded by lush greenery and offers a serene environment for worship and meditation. According to legends, the temple dates back to the 12th century and is considered an abode of medicinal herbs, which adds to its spiritual significance. The temple exhibits traditional Dravidian architecture with a gopuram adorned by colorful statues of gods and goddesses. Devotees ascend hundreds of steps to reach the main shrine, passing through the 'Seventh House', which is believed to relieve them from the adverse effects of planetary positions. The hill on which the temple is situated is also known as Marudachalam, believed to be a piece of the sacred Mount Meru. The temple complex also houses several smaller shrines, halls, and a sacred pond. It serves as a focal point for many festivals, especially Thai Poosam and Panguni Uthiram.
