Best Time To Visit Arwah Cave (Cherrapunjee) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Arwah Cave, Cherrapunji

The optimal time to visit Arwah Cave in Cherrapunji, also known as Sohra, is during the post-monsoon months which span from October to May. This period is characterized by relatively lower rainfall and clearer skies, providing visitors with a better opportunity to explore the cave's intricate formations and natural beauty. The monsoon season, from June to September, is when Cherrapunji receives some of the heaviest rainfall in the world, which can make cave exploration challenging due to increased water levels and slippery conditions.

Cherrapunji's winters, between December to February, are cool and pleasant, which makes it an excellent time for adventurers to enjoy caving without the high humidity found in the warmer months. Moreover, during these months, the cave's limestone formations, including stalactites and stalagmites, are more visible and striking, as the water level subsides. It is advisable to carry light woolens during this time as temperatures may dip, especially in the mornings and evenings. The Cave is a natural marvel worth exploring, with various fossils and unique formations, and choosing the right time enhances the experience manifold.
