Bhuri Singh Museum is located at Chamba, near Dalhousie, in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. Named after Raja Bhuri Singh, the ruler of Chamba who reigned from 1904 to 1919, the museum was established in 1908. It is an epitome of the rich cultural heritage and history of the Chamba region. The museum showcases an extensive collection of miniature paintings, particularly the Basholi and Kangra styles, which are native to this part of India. It also features a range of traditional garments, musical instruments, royal jewelry, coins, armory, and other artifacts that reflect the life and times of the region’s local kings and people. Manuscripts and epigraphs dating back several centuries are also on display, providing insights into the past governance and societal structure. The museum's architecture is influenced by British colonial and local hill styles, with finely crafted woodwork and elaborate entrances. Literary work in the form of poetry and court records in the Chambyali language are also a part of this rich collection, making it a valuable resource for historians and cultural enthusiasts alike.
