Best Time To Visit Capernaum (Tiberias) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Capernaum, Tiberias, Israel

The ancient city of Capernaum, situated near Tiberias on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, is a significant archaeological and pilgrimage site. The best time to visit Capernaum is during the spring months from March to May or the autumn months from September to November. During these periods, the weather is particularly pleasant, characterized by mild temperatures and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the historic ruins and the surrounding natural beauty. The spring season presents a vibrant display of wildflowers, adding a splash of color to the landscapes, while autumn provides cooler, comfortable conditions perfect for touring.

Summer months, from June to August, can be very hot with temperatures occasionally reaching up to 40°C (104°F), which could be strenuous for some visitors. Meanwhile, winter, which spans from December through February, is the least favorable time due to the colder weather and occasional rain showers, which might disrupt outdoor activities. However, for those interested in avoiding the crowds and experiencing Capernaum in a tranquil setting, winter visits offer this advantage. Regardless of the season, it is always wise to bring sunscreen, a hat, and water for hydration, as Capernaum is an open site with limited shade.
