Best Time to Visit Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary

Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary, situated in Dibrugarh, Assam, is known for its lush rainforests and diverse wildlife, including elephants, Bengal tigers, and various species of birds. The ideal time to visit this sanctuary is between the months of November and April. During this period, the weather is comparatively dry and cool, making it conducive for wildlife viewing and forest exploration. As this sanctuary receives heavy rainfall during the monsoon season, which typically lasts from May to October, many areas within the sanctuary can become inaccessible due to flooding and the paths can be quite slippery for trekking.

Visitors planning their trip in these recommended months will experience the vibrant biodiversity without the hindrance of heavy rains. The winter months, especially from December to February, provide an excellent opportunity for bird watchers as migratory birds are present during this period. It is important to carry appropriate clothing for cool temperatures, especially in the early mornings and evenings when safari rides are most popular. Regardless of the season you choose to visit, it's always recommended to check with local authorities or tour operators for the latest information on weather and sanctuary conditions before planning your trip.
