Diyatha Uyana is a picturesque park situated in the suburb of Battaramulla, near Colombo, Sri Lanka. This lush oasis encompasses a large area that features beautifully landscaped gardens, walkways, and waterfronts alongside the serene waters of the Diyawanna Oya. It was constructed on a marshy land adjacent to the Parliament complex and is a part of the urban wetland regeneration project aimed at enhancing the aesthetic and recreational appeal of the urban landscape. The park boasts a variety of attractions including an aquarium, a plant nursery, a flower shop, and food stalls that contribute to its vibrancy and liveliness. In the evenings, the park comes alive with stunning light installations and the fountain show, making it a popular destination among families and couples who visit for leisurely strolls and to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere. Additionally, Diyatha Uyana hosts a weekend market which draws crowds for its range of local crafts, organic produce, and street food. The park not only provides a recreational escape from the hustle and bustle of city life but also serves as a habitat for various bird species, enhancing its ecological value.
