Nature walks, cultural tours, and home-stays are being promoted to ensure that the tourist footprint supports the local economy without harming the environment. With the advent of social media and online travel platforms, Dumka also has been experiencing an increase in domestic travelers who are looking for offbeat and experiential travel options.
Despite these positive trends, Dumka, like many other destinations, faced a setback with the global pandemic. The focus has shifted towards health and wellness travel and rebuilding the local tourism sector to adapt to the new normal, with emphasis on safety protocols.
Dumka's tourism history may not be filled with grand developments or rapid changes, but it is rich in stories of simplicity, sustainability, and cultural richness. Thanks to these attributes, it has slowly carved a place for itself on the tourism map of Eastern India.
