Eagle Square, or Dataran Lang, is a famous landmark in Langkawi, Malaysia, known for its impressive 12-meter-tall sculpture of an eagle ready to take flight. It is situated next to the Langkawi Ferry Pier, making it one of the first sights for visitors arriving by sea. The eagle is symbolic of Langkawi's name, which is derived from 'helang' (eagle) and 'kawi' (reddish-brown), hence 'reddish-brown eagle'. The square covers an area of 19 acres and features picturesque fountains, terraces, and bridges, offering a perfect backdrop for photos. This beautifully landscaped park, with its well-maintained gardens and scenic ponds, provides a serene environment for a stroll, especially during sunrise or sunset. The square is also a hub for local festivals and events. It is a must-visit destination to appreciate both the natural beauty and cultural significance of Langkawi.
